PP-Polypropylene:

Polypropylene is a polymer formed by the polymerization of propylene monomer. Its English name is Polypropylene, abbreviated as PP, and its molecular formula is [C3H6] N. According to the type of polymerization, the production process of polypropylene can be divided into five categories: solution method, slurry method, bulk method, gas phase method and bulk method - gas phase method combination process. Polypropylene (PP) is a straight chain hydrocarbon structure, expressed as (C3H6) N. Polypropylene (PP) is a straight chain hydrocarbon structure, expressed as (C3H6) N. Polypropylene has excellent electrical insulation and chemical corrosion resistance, and its mechanical properties and heat resistance are the best among universal thermoplastics, and its price is one of the lowest varieties of synthetic resins. It has excellent processing performance and can be used to produce products with different uses. Polypropylene is lighter than polyethylene. Transparency is also better than polyethylene, more rigid than polyethylene. The price is one of the lowest varieties of synthetic resin, polypropylene processing performance is good, can use a variety of processing methods to produce products of different uses.

Common products of polypropylene:

Pots, buckets, furniture, film, woven bags, bottle caps, car bumpers and so on, Australian coins are also made of polypropylene.

World consumption structure of polypropylene:

Polypropylene is short for PP. Polypropylene World Consumption Structure, the other 11% contains blow moulding, tubing, coating, porous plastics, etc. Porous plastics occupy only in the rest. < 1%

Physical properties of polypropylene:

1, polypropylene is a crystalline polymer, has the advantages of light weight, cheap, non-toxic, tasteless and high mechanical strength.   2. Various types of polypropylene have densities around 0.90g/cm³ (usually 0.87-0.94 g/cm³).   3. Melting point temperature of Polypropylene is 164-170℃.   4, It is a kind of general plastic with the highest heat resistance, but the melt has high elasticity, fast cooling and solidification speed, and easy to produce internal stress, At the same time the molding shrinkage rate is relatively large (1%-2.5%), and has anisotropy.

Chemical properties of polypropylene:

  1. Polypropylene, short for PP, has excellent chemical stability, which increases with the increase of crystallinity.   2, good thermal stability, decomposition temperature can reach more than 300℃, and oxygen contact, resin at about 260℃ began to turn yellow.   3, inorganic salt, alkali or salt solution, in addition to strong oxidation properties outside 100℃ temperature, almost no damage to PP.   4, polypropylene is a non-polar organic matter, so it is easy to dissolve or swell in a non-polar solvent, the higher the temperature, dissolve or swell The higher the temperature, the more stable it is for polar solvents.

  5. Polypropylene plastics are usually strong and elastic, especially when copolymerized with ethylene, which has led to their use as engineering plastics.   6. The linear expansion coefficient (CTLE) α of polypropylene plastics is 40~200 x 10-6 m/m/K, but it is slightly worse than that of polyethylene.

Advantages of polypropylene:

  1. Polypropylene is one of the lightest varieties of plastics.   2, good mechanical properties, in addition to impact resistance, other mechanical properties are better than polyethylene, molding performance is good.   3, with high heat resistance, continuous use temperature up to 110-120℃.   4, good chemical properties, almost no water absorption, and the vast majority of chemical drugs do not react.   5, pure texture, non-toxic.   6. Good electrical insulation.

7, the transparency of polypropylene products is better than the transparency of high-density polyethylene products.
